Fame can be a Curse Everyone was shocked on hearing the sudden news of Sushant Singh Rajput passing away. May his soul RIP. The rising star of the industry who was battling depression succumbed to it. Depression is no joke. Everyone knows how hard it is to take place in this industry especially when you have no contact with the industry. If a person still achieved this, you cannot doubt if the person was weak. Only a strong-willed, highly determined person can make it. Still, the disease broke him. Depression is like any other deadly disease which any person can suffer from. Many people fight cancer yet many die even while fighting, it does not mean they were weak. The same is with this disease. Studies show that highly successful are more prone to mental illness than normal people. It is because they have to constantly tackle pressures. This fame and money can be a curse for many people. Bourbon Whiskey gave birth to Instagram
Instagram!! One of the most loved social media by our youths. Instagram is absolutely amazing, except when exams are on our heads of course. Sharing photos, stories, connecting with our friends, with the world have made our lives so entertaining. But who the hell would imagine it started with a bourbon whiskey. Sounds insane right? Yeah, I know but it did. So now let's start with the story.
The story starts with a 27-year-old Stanford graduate Kevin Systrom. What else do we know about him? He loves Whiskey. Man for that very reason he coded a mobile web app - 'Burbn'. The more amazing thing is that he didn't even know how to code. So how did he pull it off? Simple, he used to learn to code at night. Well, let me also tell you he had a job and was a former Google employee.
The purpose of this app was to umm.... make plans to drink and share those photos. Funny? Well, but what made Instagram what it is today was an app named 'Foursquare'. Foursquare was their competition. So now the started to focus on just one specific purpose and remove all other unnecessary stuff. And the main focus was what is Instagram's base today- 'Photo sharing' which we love so much and yes, they changed the name as well. On the very first day of its launch on 6th October 2006, it had 25000 users and became the No. 1 video sharing platform. Then there was no going back and today the company has over 1 Billion active users.
Well one more interesting thing, before Mark, Jack Dorsey co-founder and CEO of twitter wanted to buy Instagram. But $525M was not enough. Facebook then bought it for $1B providing its autonomous function.
Stay tuned :)
